Have a grace filled life

I used to operate under the law. I used to think if I didn't say or do the right things that GOD was going to strike me with lightning or something. I once made a list of over 100 laws for myself to live by and I failed miserably. I bring this up because I think there are many well meaning Christian's out there who are living under the law instead of under grace. I'm gonna through now some of the biggest examples of this there are many more then this but I'm just blogging the most common examples of Christian's trying to live under law and why it's wrong.

Holidays. Christians however well intentioned add many not needed rules to the holidays. Some Christians say don't celebrate any of the holidays not Christmas not Easter no holidays because its what the world does and we are not to do as the world does cause we are not of this world. There are many religions that also say not to celebrate any holidays at all for the same reason so the second you get into this thinking you've just done what the world does. There is nothing wrong or sinful about celebrating the holidays. This is also cause holiday's are also called in the Jewish faith Holy days and that's where holiday's came from and mostly those who are Jewish don't celebrate any holiday's because to them it is taking something holy and turning it into something worldly other faiths think this as well but more of the Jewish faith. But does the Bible not make clear that it is our Holy GOD who creates every single day so if that is true and it is that must make every day a Holy day because it is a day that the Lord has made let us rejoice and be glad in it.

Halloween. Most Christians are against Halloween cause it did begin as a pagan day for worshiping the devil and stuff like that. Thing is since human beings are the one's who made it up human beings can then change it anytime they feel like it. Just because Halloween started that way doesn't mean it has to stay that way. There is no law that says Halloween must always be about the devil and stuff. So just change what its about. Make it instead to be a night about kids playing dress up, having fun and getting some candy. That's not bad at all.

Christmas. Believe it or not there are Christians who are against celebrating Christmas cause that day used to be about the winter solstice. Yes it used to be that way and yes we did steal that day and put it on the map and no one but the Wiccan's care about the winter solstice anymore. And ok fine its not the exact day that Christ was born some think He may have been born around Easter time. Thing is the Bible does not say the exact day and time He was born. We have a general idea but we dunno exactly. Many Christians also are against putting up a Christmas tree because of the following verses "This is what the LORD says: "Do not learn the ways of the nations or be terrified by signs in the sky, though the nations are terrified by them. 3 For the customs of the peoples are worthless; they cut a tree out of the forest, and a craftsman shapes it with his chisel. 4 They adorn it with silver and gold; they fasten it with hammer and nails so it will not totter. 5 Like a scarecrow in a melon patch, their idols cannot speak; they must be carried because they cannot walk. Do not fear them; they can do no harm nor can they do any good." 6 No one is like you, O LORD; you are great, and your name is mighty in power. 7 Who should not revere you, O King of the nations? This is your due. Among all the wise men of the nations and in all their kingdoms, there is no one like you. 8 They are all senseless and foolish; they are taught by worthless wooden idols. 9 Hammered silver is brought from Tarshish and gold from Uphaz. What the craftsman and goldsmith have made is then dressed in blue and purple-- all made by skilled workers. 10 But the LORD is the true God; he is the living God, the eternal King. When he is angry, the earth trembles; the nations cannot endure his wrath." Jeremiah 10:1-10. These verses have nothing to with Christmas trees at all unless you are bowing down to your Christmas tree. These verses are about idols and how useless idols are so unless you are bowing down to your Christmas tree and hoping it can solve your problems then there is nothing at all wrong with having a Christmas tree.

Easter. Some Christians will not do Easter cause of the Easter Bunny and the colored eggs. Well who said you had to do the Easter Bunny thing?? Where is there a law written that if you wanna celebrate Easter you have to do the Easter Bunny thing?? You can do that if you want to but you don't have to it's a choice. Just like doing the Santa thing is a choice you don't have to and just because you choose to not do the Easter Bunny, Tooth Fairy or Santa Clause doesn't mean  no one else is allowed to. If they wanna do that its their choice.

Jewish holidays. Some Christians say we can't celebrate or shouldn't celebrate Jewish holidays because we are under grace not law. You will not lose your salvation simply because you celebrate Passover or any other Jewish holiday. You can celebrate a Jewish holiday if you want there is no sin in that.

Now for other subjects not connected to holidays but still very common among Christians.

Dancing. Many Christians don't believe you should dance that its not right or something. "Wearing a linen ephod, David was dancing before the LORD with all his might" 2 Samuel 6:14 NIV. If dancing was wrong the Lord would have told David to stop and since the Lord didn't do that then there is nothing sinful about dancing. Some Christians say we must only dance exactly like David did they call it Davidic dancing. So your telling me you have a time machine where we can go back in time and see exactly how David danced so we can copy it?? Cause unless you can do that then you have not a clue in the world exactly how David danced you may be able to have some general idea after studying Jewish culture but unless you were there and saw  it you have no idea how David danced.

Alcohol. Some Christians think the Bible says to not drink alcohol at all and it doesn't say that. "And do not get drunk with wine, for that is debauchery, but be filled with the Spirit" Ephesians 5:18 ESV. You can drink alcohol just don't get drunk. If alcohol was so wrong then why would Jesus who is the Son of GOD and is GOD turn water into wine at a wedding?? Why would Paul suggest to Timothy to have a little wine for some his health complaints?? Also at the last supper Jesus had a little wine with all of His disciples. Now there are those who were alcoholics and if they touch a drop they will fall back into their old ways and if your like that then there's nothing wrong with avoiding it in your case. But if you weren't an alcoholic and want a sip of wine then there is nothing wrong with that at all just don't get drunk that's all.

Food. Something we all love. Many Christians though still go by the Old Testament laws about food avoiding bacon and things like that. "The next day, as they were on their journey and approaching the city, Peter went up on the housetop about the sixth hour to pray. And he became hungry and wanted something to eat, but while they were preparing it, he fell into a trance and saw the heavens opened and something like a great sheet descending, being let down by its four corners upon the earth. In it were all kinds of animals and reptiles and birds of the air. And there came a voice to him: “Rise, Peter; kill and eat.” But Peter said, “By no means, Lord; for I have never eaten anything that is common or unclean.” And the voice came to him again a second time, “What God has made clean, do not call common.” This happened three times, and the thing was taken up at once to heaven" Acts 10:9-16 ESV. GOD doesn't create anything unclean in fact when He made everything in Genesis each time He called it good He never said oops. Some say "well but Peter did what was right he resisted." So what your saying there is that the Lord tempted Peter to do evil. "When tempted, no one should say, "GOD is tempting me." For GOD cannot be tempted by evil, nor does He tempt anyone" James 1:13 NIV. You can eat anything you want there is no food that is unclean.

Debating. There are Christians that are against debates and if they hear one they get sad and ask why can't we all just love each other and get along. First off no one gets along with everyone 24/7 it just doesn't happen. Second there is nothing wrong with debating in fact its very healthy because it gets a Christian to think more about where they stand and why. As long as it doesn't escalate to a shouting match or name calling or anything like that there is nothing wrong with debating at all. There is nothing in the Bible at all against debating. Debating is not a sin and just because people are debating it doesn't mean that they are no longer one as Jesus prayed. When Jesus prayed for us to be one He didn't mean we all should be all exactly the same and agreeing with each other on everything all the time. He created all our personalities and gave us a mind to use to think and question and there is nothing wrong with that at all. Also because Christians are debating doesn't mean they no longer love each other I'm sure you yourself have disagreed with someone and haven't stopped loving them because you disagreed.

So all this to say is stop living under law and live under grace. The law can't save you and the law wasn't given to save you that's not the law's purpose. The purpose of the law is for you to see how great a sinner you are and how much you need a Savior. No one of any faith of any upbringing of any race of any color of any creed no one not one person can keep the whole law their whole entire lives without breaking it. If you break even one law you are a law breaker and are guilty of breaking all of it and nothing you can do can make you pure again. You can't save yourself because you can't go back in time and undo it and by nature cause we all have a sinful nature we are all born with it you will sin again no matter how much you try not to. And if you are trying to be not like the world as GOD has called us to be unique being not like the world is a total heart issue and nothing to do with your actions. As the Bible says it's all been said and done before there is nothing new under the sun so every time you say you won't do something cause its worldly I can guarantee you that there's a worldly person abstaining from the same thing it doesn't make you any less worldly. GOD want's you to be unworldly from the heart. The world rejects GOD in fact the world hates Him and if the world could the world would kill Him and the world tried when Jesus was crucified but the world didn't succeed. To be unworldly means to have a total change towards GOD and to love Him from your heart that's it. It has nothing to do with any little rules or laws you make for yourself. In fact anytime you try to live by laws and rules rather then by grace your saying that the sacrifice Jesus made for you on the cross isn't good enough and that you need to do more so really your demeaning the cross. Your saying that what the almighty all seeing all knowing all powerful all holy GOD just couldn't cover it all with what He did therefore you a limited sinful by nature finite human being must do more to make it good enough. Stop trying to be good enough for GOD because you can't be nobody can. You are saved by grace alone through faith alone in Christ alone and not by any works at all. Nothing you can do can make GOD love you less or more. So stop living under law and have a grace filled life.... GOD bless you.
